Natural Circulation Vs. Forced Circulation - Sinter Cooler WHRB

Natural circulation refers to the natural circulation of steam and water. This type of circulation is driven by force incurred by the density differentiation of steam and water. It only requires a feed-water pump to initiate the flow without relying on any other type of mechanical pump to stabilize circulation. Hence, natural circulation design can lower operational cost in electricity. It can also eliminate the risk of potential vapor lockduring a potential occurrence of power failure.

Forced circulation refers to the necessity of constant mechanical pumping of steam and water to ensure steady flow rate. The existence of forced circulation pump is costly because it often requires respective piping for from the drums to pump, respective filtering system placed in front of the pump, and respective valves & instruments required for both pump and filters.

Over the past 16 years as if today, JSDJ designed and manufactured more than 180 waste heat boilers for Sinter Cooler process. We have always recommended natural circulation design to our customers due to the unique nature and benefits it brings forth.
