Industrial Waste Heat Recovery

It is estimated that around 20%-50% of industrial energy input is rejected and lost in the environment, which puts our environment at risk. This waste heat arises due to both equipment inefficiencies and thermodynamic limitations of the equipment and processes.Although some of the waste heat losses from the industrial processes are inevitable, the industrial facilities can reduce these losses by installing waste heat recovery systems. By doing so, not only can industrial business owners lower their overall production cost by transforming waste heat into electricity, but it can also help reduce a tremendous amount of gas emission into our atmosphere.

Waste heat in production system stems from multiple industrial processes distributed throughout a plant. The most common sources of waste heat for most industries are flue gases and heated air from heating systems such as high-temperature gases from ovens in process heating, lower-temperature gases from heating furnaces, dryers & heaters, and heat from heat ex-changers, cooling liquids & gases. Waste heat can also be found in liquids and solids, including cooling water, heated washing water, and blow-down water, hot products that are discharged after processing or after reactions are complete as byproducts or combustion materials, etc.
